Designed for Safety

Our building and grounds are equipped with state of the art safety and security features that allow maximum freedom and protection at the same time. Safety awareness is a top priority for staff members, and a key feature for families making the decision to move a loved one to the West Center.

Typical wander-control systems rely on bracelet devices that residents must wear. The West Center system secures the doors themselves, so residents are free of uncomfortable and unreliable devices. The secured doors are set to release in cases of emergency, and are monitored continuously by round-the-clock reception desk staff. Exit from the suites is permitted only by electronic access card, which allows our front desk staff to monitor visitor and staff locations at all times. Elevator access requires a code. In the suites themselves, great care has been taken to provide furnishings, lighting and floor coverings that enable the person with Alzheimer’s disease to live and move within the suite as safely as possible
