2022 Program Expansion
The West Center Day Program Is Back and Bigger Than Ever
James L. West is committed to serving people who are impacted by dementia and their caregivers, with compassionate care and expert resources. For more than 36 years, we’ve offered the only dementia-specific adult day program in North Texas, giving individuals with dementia a chance to socialize and their caregivers a much-needed break.
But in 2019, the coronavirus pandemic halted this crucial service, leaving caregivers who had been reliant on the day program’s social, emotional and clinical support with little to no organized life enrichment opportunities for their loved ones.
With the pandemic ongoing, dementia-specific adult day programming is needed now more than ever. Recognizing this, James L. West plans to dedicate a 6,500-square-foot property solely to reopening West Center Day Program operations (read our brochure to learn more). Located in southwest Fort Worth, this new space will not only allow us to serve twice as many participants, but will also enable us to further expand our program offerings, including:
- Heart- and brain-healthy meals
- Home care services
- Case management through an on-site social work professional to provide support and resource identification for participants and their care partners
- Physical therapy, audiology and ophthalmology, podiatry, occupational therapy, speech therapy and health services through a collaborative health care partnership
- And more
But we need your help.
To secure the new building and relaunch the program, we are working on raising $3.56M by mid-December 2021. By joining our mission, your donation will help us make the new and improved West Center Day Program a reality for families across North Texas.
